Head Lice Policy & Tick Prevention |
Head Lice PolicyIf lice are suspected, a camp wide lice check will take place to check all camper’s and staff’s hair. When lice or nits are found within a camper’s hair, parents will be notified. Parents will be asked to pick up their child(ren) from program as soon as possible, in order to help control the environment and the spread of lice. Parents/guardians will be asked to treat their child’s hair and remove all nits/ lice before returning to camp. In order to return to camp, the child(ren)’s hair must be free of any nits/ lice. Additional lice checks may take place during an outbreak, to stop the spread of lice. Please work with us to create a lice free environment, by keeping your camper home from camp until treatment has been successful, and no lice/nits remain. Parents will be notified when there has been an outbreak of lice at camp within 24hours of discovery. Click here to read The Head Lice - What You Need to Know Brochure from Region of Waterloo.
Tick Prevention at Outdoor CampsThe rise in ticks in Ontario this summer is a very serious issue that our staff has not only taken notice of but also has put in place practices during camp to ensure that children attending are safe. Prior to camp starting, all of our camp counselors received in-person training from Public Health on how to identify ticks and how to safely remove them. Our camp counsellors ensure that all campers remain on paths in any forest area that the group comes across and camp counsellors do thorough checks after being in nature with the campers. If you do spot a tick when your child has arrived home please contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We are more than willing to help in any way possible, as your child’s safety is incredibly important to us. Click here to read the 'Tick ID: Know Them, Prevent Them' Brochure from Public Health. |
