TAPPs (Teenage Parents Program)

The goal of the Teenage Age Parents Program is to support the personal growth of pregnant and parenting teens and their children while assisting teen parents in improving their parenting skills, education and well being.

Women of Distinction™

Women of Distinctionis an annual fundraiser held by the YMCA – YWCA of Guelph to recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in Guelph and Wellington County. The fundraiser supports programs run by the YMCA – YWCA of Guelph for women, teens, and their families.

YMCA-YWCA SHARKs is a “Swim to Survive” program provided for free to all grade 3 students in the city of Guelph. This program teaches children how to survive a fall into open water with the goal of decreasing the number of deaths due to drowning in our community.

The YMCA-YWCA of Guelph and Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph (WDG) Public Health have teamed together to launch the Daily Activity in Schools and Home (D.A.S.H. program. The goal is to increase activity levels, and decrease negative behaviour on the playground through active games and walking/biking initiatives/ clubs.

The EnCore Program is designed to help breast cancer survivors come together at the Y and participate in a free program of gentle floor and pool-based exercises for women of any age who are recovering from breast cancer at any stage.

Power of Begin a Girl™

Power of Being a Girl™ is a signature leadership conference for girls ages 12-17, hosted during the YWCA’s Week Without Violence™. This unique program responds to individual community needs and is coordinated by local YWCA and YMCA-YWCA Member Associations. Topics of the this annual conference include self-esteem, body image, healthy relationships and dating, violence prevention, leadership, bullying, internet safety, career choices, discrimination, sexual health and substance abuse.

International Support

The Guelph Y supports the work and progress being made our brother Y in Tijauna, Mexio. This ‘Casa’ provides physical and emotional support to youth and also helps to reunite missing youth with their families. The Guelph Y supports these services by donating funds and also providing work exchange programs for staff.
