Guelph Y Annual Megathon Fundraiser Raises Over $22,000.00 in Support of Guelph Y Community Programs
GUELPH – ON, the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph annual Megathon fundraiser on Saturday, March 4, 2017 raised over $22,000 in support of Guelph Y community programs. Guelph Y Members and Community Members participated as heroes by completing a Megathon challenge and raising pledges. The Guelph Y had many successful challenges throughout the day including a Float your Boat challenge where families used duct tape, cardboard, and determination to get across the Guelph Y pool to race against other families, a weight lifting challenge, as well as a timed cycle challenge.
All proceeds from the Guelph Y Megathon go towards the Guelph Y’s community programs. The community programs at the Guelph Y support both members and non-members. These include providing financial assistance, free one year memberships for newcomers to Canada, customized post-rehab programs, free swim to survive lessons for all kids, subsidized summer day camp, and many more. In 2016, the Guelph Y offered $324,519.00 of financial assistance to 1,533 people. With your support, together we open the doors to healthy and active lives for all individuals in our community.
A special thank you goes to our sponsors for Megathon, Canadian Basketball League, Cybex International, and Hematite. The Guelph Y will be accepting donations for the Megathon fundraiser in support of Guelph Y community programs at www.guelphymegathon.org until Sunday, March 12, 2017.
