Swim Lessons

18months-3years

  • YMCA LITTLE DIPPERS – Parent and Dipper (30 min): Parent and Dipper allows adult and child to become comfortable in the water and gain an understanding of water safety as well as an introduction to swimming skills. Skills range from shallow water orientation to front and back swims. PARENT OR GUARDIAN MUST ACCOMPANY CHILD IN THE WATER (16 years or older).

 

4-5 years

  • YMCA LITTLE DIPPERS – Preschool (30min): The preschool swim program introduces preschoolers to a wide range of water activites in a safe, fun atmosphere.  From the basics of blowing bubbles, to learning from swims, the preschooler is challenged according to their swim ability. PARTICPATES WITHOUT THEIR PARENTS.

 

6-12 years

  • YMCA Learn to Swim Program and Star Program (45min): During our weeknight and weekend lesson blocks we offer 8 levels of swim lessons from Otter to Star 4 for youth 6-12 years of age. This program introduces children to the water and advances them from non-swimmer to advanced strokes, water safety

 

  • Aquatic Leader Corp (ALC): For Youth who have completed Star 4 and for youth 13 years and older in the YMCA Star Program.  ALC allows youth to continue swimming lessons after 12 years of age and fill the gap between swim lessons and the lifesaving levels (Bronze Medallion).  Each participant works towards their badge by advancing their swim ability, lifesaving skills, and endurance.  With an emphasis on leadership participants are able to focus on their love of swimming while advancing through our swim levels (Star program – Master Swimmer).

 

  • YOUTH SWIM CLUB: This program is designed for youth of a YMCA Canada Swimmer level and up.  This program provides youth with the opportunity to improve their swimming ability and fitness in a swim team environment.  Registration is required. Minimal fee involved.
