Aquatic Leadership

Aquatic Leader Corp (youth or teens who have completed Star 4)

The Aquatic Leader Corp is an innovative new aquatic program that fills the void between swim lessons and the lifesaving levels.  Designed as a continuous swim lesson, ALC will take swimmers from Star 5 through Bronze Star.

Throughout ALC participant will work on Lifesaving and Swim skills to help them succeed in advanced courses to come. In addition participants are able to work on other skill sets surrounding swimming, such as the practice of swim instruction, waterpolo and sincronized swimmnig.   These skills will allow the participants to achieve leadership and people skills, letting them achieve new heights, not only in aquatics, but also in future employment with other Aquatic Sports and activities.

ALC participants will spend a majority of their time in the water working on swim and lifesaving skills. Once a month they will have one dry land lesson to further the first aid skills they will need for advancement.

The National Lifeguard’s primary role is the prevention of emergency situations and where this fails, the timely and effective resolution of emergencies. The National Lifeguard program is designed to prepare lifeguards to fulfill this role as professional facilitators of safe, enjoyable aquatics. The National Lifeguard course cannot in theory or practice prepare candidates for every situation which might be encountered by NLS guards working in Canadian aquatic environments and facilities.
